It started with Dexter.

Dexter was diagnosed with renal failure, and like any family would, we refused to give up on him. We moved to California for work, and it was there that a veterinarian opened our eyes to something that changed everything. Whole foods. Real ingredients. A completely different approach to what we were putting in his bowl.

It worked. Dexter got three more years, including time back home in Michigan after we moved back. Three more years of walks, cuddles, and the kind of life he deserved.

When Dexter passed, we kept making the food. It was our way of honoring what we had learned and what he had given us. We got Abby, then Fitz, and kept refining the recipes over the years, working closely with veterinarians to understand what to add, what to pull out, and how to give dogs the absolute best. That process has been going on since 2016, and this year marks 10 years of doing this the right way.

Harris & Howl is what that journey became. Born right here in Metro Detroit and built around one belief that has never changed: dogs are family, and family deserves real food.
